A new beginning.

This fall is a new beginning for this blog...I'll be posting regularly and welcome all comments.  Invited them.  I'm going to still have my characters give behind the scenes comments on the current book, but I'll start blogging my thoughts.  And what crazy thoughts an author has.  Hopefully, it will give y'all insight.

Ethan is going to have his time.  He was a great guy, but was rather stubborn about sharing his secrets with me.  Don't you just hate when a man won't open up?  Well, it took me sometime to pry it out of him.  And of course, Tessa proved to be as much as a challenge.  She had her secrets, but was more willing to share.

I'm hoping you'll join me regularly here.  I'll enjoy sharing thoughts and for sure my characters will love having their say.

New Job

Tyler here.  It's been a while since I posted, but life has gotten in the way.  Beth has been traveling way too much for her job.  I see her when she darts in and out.  Her brother, Zach, is about to nail her feet to the ground, since we have to scramble to find someone to cover for her during the equine therapy sessions.

I've decided to join the Albuquerque PD.  I'm going to work with the bomb squad.  With my background in explosives and seen the bombs the enemy constructed, I can help here at home.  I'm almost finished with my police training.

Folks have asked about Dogger.  How has he settled into our married live.  He's loving the attention that Beth gives him.   As for Prince Charming, well dog and horse are buds.  A couple of days last week, I left Dogger with Zach at Second Chance Ranch.  Apparently, he's now the official greeter to new clients.

This is Riley. I want to tell you how things have gone since my exciting night out.  Mom's getting better.  She's out of her casts.  She's still working from home, but she goes into work twice a week.  There's a guy at her office that picks her up.  I think he likes her.

Tyler's finished going through the police training academy.  He's going to be a bomb technician.   Beth is suck acting funny.  She's either barfing or eating like it's going out of style.  And Sophie is looking like she's going to have a baby soon.

Me. I started high school.  I'm bringing lots of new friends to Second Chance ranch.  I'm kinda a big deal.  And church is great.  Life's good, but I still miss my brother.

Lynda McClure, here.  Mother of the brood.  Beth is my youngest.  I'll say my little girl was a blessing to our family.  Granted, I know she gave her brothers a hard time, but they were protective and loving of her.  When she tattled on them, my boys might have huffed and puffed and complained, but if anyone at school tried to bully her, they took up her cause.  I made more than one trip to the school to talk to the principal about either Zach or Ethan fighting.  It was always defending their sister.
Every time, Mom?
Yes, every time.
Gee, I didn't know.  Ah, thanks bros.

Lessons learned

Riley, here.  I got to tell you, isn't not fun to decide to run away.  When I heard Tyler say the stuff he did about my brother, I took off.  It wasn't the smartest idea I've ever have. Good thing Dogger followed me.  He's a good dog and stayed with me all through the cold night, and he's the one who got us home.  Course, he's a good listener and I think God sent him as my guardian angel.  Sometimes, acting without thinking not a good idea, but  don't tell my mom.

Hurry, time is running out.

Beth, here.  Apparently, I'm the only one posting, which means I can tell all sorts of secrets.   What a thought.  What I wanted to tell everyone that it depends on where you live, but our book might have disappeared off the shelf.  If you can find the book (it's an April release) the you can go on Amazon or eharlequin.com and order the book.  Please do.  Then email us here at the blog and we'll answer any question you have.

Trust God

Beth here. Sometimes, when it seems everything is going wrong, God brings a new understanding to our lives.  He can turn our tragedy into triumph.   When Riley's mom came to pick him up after the lock-in, she was broadsided and taken to the hospital.  We didn't understand why that happened, then Riley disappeared.  I can't tell you how dark those days were.  I thought the world had come apart...but God preformed miracles.  None of understood why it happened, but God turned our mourning turned into dancing.

To my Sister's Defense

Being a big brother, I've got to take up for Beth. She may be a pain sometimes--
Hey, Ethan, is that taking up for me?
Hush, sis. I'm here to say good things about you.
Oh.
So, Beth may have been the reason for the tagging system at the lock-in, but that system has saved the church from losing a couple of teens. And if you have teen, sometimes they sneak off. Hormones and teenage boys.

But if there's a job, a party or a person who needs help, Beth jumps in. No one has to twist her arm. She wants to fix everyone's life and have them happy.
That's praise?
Beth.
Okay.
As I was saying, Beth can be counted on to help. Her's a heart of gold. I'm proud she's my sister.
Ah, Ethan, I love ya.

Lock-In

Okay, so I'm the reason for the labeling, but it's a creative solution to a problem. I find that my life sometimes goes that way. I do something (a boo-boo) and then I have to do my most creative thinking. And if it works, well, whychange with what's working.
I'll tell you what I'm talking about. There's this brilliant artisan the department store I work for wanted to carry his work. It took me forever to get him to sign. When he did, I had to do it personally. Then he decided I was the love of his life.

Okay, what do you do? I went with the flow. I told him that I knew I would always be the second love of his life, for he loved his art first of all. I couldn't compete with his brilliance, so I wanted to save my heart by not loving him.

He thought about it and agreed. We became good friends. If you want to read his story, it's in the book.

My Defense

If Beth can rat me out, I'll return the favor. They have a system to keep track of the kids on the lock-in. They get a bracelet like they give you in the hospital with your name, a color and a bus number. The bus have colored sheets in the windshield so the kids know which bus. They started this system when they lost Beth one lock-in.

I thought I was going to bust my sides laughing when I heard that story.

Lock-In

Beth here. Have you ever been to an overnight lock-in at your church? The church my parents took us to always had lock-ins before the school year started. It was a great way to bond with the other kids going in the same grade as you. I think Riley and Tyler had fun at their first lock-in, but they wouldn't admit it. Don't you just hate when men get stubborn and stupid?

My Two Cents

Ethan McClure. I'm Beth's older brother. I thought I'd sneak in here and let you a little a few stories on my baby sister. I never had a secret, because Bethie thought it was her job to tell it. I remember when I was dating in high school and brought the girl home. Beth volunteered the information that I told all my best friend that I thought Mary a great kisser. She announced that at the 4th of July picnic in front of all our neighbors. It took us a long time to live it down.

Beth here. "I didn't do it on purpose. I was just talking to my best friend when everyone decided to be silently at the moment. Besides, those words did come out of your mouth."

Ethan: "I rest my case."

I'm so excited.

Beth here. I just had a friend call me and tell my our book is out in the stores. Run out there and get it. I might not sound modest, but God did such a wonderful work for Tyler, Riley and me, that I can't help it. My brothers tell me I'm too bossy, but what can you expect from brothers?

As for Tyler's complaint about chaperoning all those teens. That lock-in has a major effect on the teens who come. I think Riley discovered that. He found friends and a support system for high school.

Have any of you been to a lock-in?

The picture on the left is the walk outside my apartment.

I'm too Old for This

Tyler, here. Have you ever tried to corral 150 teenagers? When Beth asked me if I could help with the lock in....well, I didn't know what is was asking. I think I rather go on patrol with my army unit than do that again. Guys don't scream and squeal when they see each other. I ducked and took up a defensive position when I was standing in the lobby of the activity building at church. Nothing--let me tell you nothing, could prepare you for an experience like that. Have any of you chaperoned a group of teens? How were your nerves afterward?

Of course, Beth did the job.

Hey

Hey, my name's Riley. My brother, Paul, was a friend of Tyler. They were in the same unit. My brother didn't come home. It's hard. Tyler and my mom thought it'd be a good idea if I went to Second Chance ranch to watch and help with the kids who went for equine therapy. Sometimes, mom smothers a guy too much.

I didn't like going. It's wasn't cool of a high-school freshman to be scene at this place, but looking back, I'm glad they made me go. Dogger adopted me. And when I went to the lock-in at Beth's church, well, I killed everyone in miniature golf. They didn't know that my brother used to manage a miniature golf place and when I stayed with him after school until mom got home from work. Paul tried to play dad after our father was killed in a car accident.

We're back

Beth here. Sorry for not posting, but I had an emergency trip for work, and if I'm not here to oversee things, well...I'll say my boys, Tyler and Riley sometimes don't pay attention. You know how that is. Of course, the only one who kept it together was Dogger--the dog.

Okay, if the boys won't talk, I will. As I recall, Tyler in the beginning had that look in his eyes and said, "Stay away from me. I don't want to talk." Now, what could be more tempting for a woman who is the 'little sis' than to fix that attitude. He just should've had a sign on his chest "I need fixing." Well, any good and upstanding girl couldn't resist. Could you?

My Friend and Buddy

I thought I'd introduce you to the matchmaker of this book. Dogger. This is a bud who loves me just as I am. I don't explain how I feel or why I'm feeling bad that day. He loves me, doesn't mind my moods. He's mighty selective in his friends. He enjoyed the guys in my unit in the Army, but wouldn't settle down with anyone but me and my best friend, Paul Carter. Paul didn't make it home. Both Dogger and I miss him.

Introductions

Tyler Lynch, here. I met Beth when I came to her brother's equine therapy ranch. I have a dog--a mutt I found in Iraq. He's a choosy character. He doesn't make friends easily. He growled at my old fiancee and she returned the favor. That's why she's my ex.

"Dogger" as I call him, decided he wanted to introduce himself to Beth. It was kinda of awkward introduction. I was surprised, but couldn't fault his taste in women. I noticed Beth the minute she showed up at the ranch to volunteer as a sidewalker.

Beth said I needed to include a picture. Well, I think she needs to return the favor.

Our Launch

This is exciting. I get to be the first blogger of all the characters in Redemption Ranch. It's going to be fun. Any questions you have, you're welcome to ask. This is going to be the story behind the story. Now the book isn't out yet, but when Redemption Ranch is out, you're welcome to ask questions.

I'll launch. My name is Beth McClure. (It's my story.) I'm the youngest in my family. I have two older brothers who I love dearly. I have always loved them, but there were days when they were lucky I didn't strangle them. When I was a teenager, they ran off every boy who was interested in me. Their response was, wasn't that their job? No. But I got back. There was one time they climbed out of the window of their bedroom and went to a party they weren't supposed to. I was waiting for them in the room when they returned. I got several months of cooperation from them.

Redemption Ranch will be out in late March. All of the characters in the book will blog. We're going to have a good time.
